If you’re new to all this dance show lingo, here’s a handy guide to some of our terms.
Ballet Bun
This is the best tutorial we can find. You don’t need to use a hat elastic but you absolutely must make sure your ponytail is tight and neat or the bun will fall out. This is a good bun kit from Amazon.
Corps de Ballet
The members of a ballet company who dance together as a group
Dress Rehearsal
The “Dress Rehearsal” is the final rehearsal of a show, in which everything is done as it would be in a real performance from costumes to hair to make up.
Room Upstairs
The Room Upstairs is where our younger dancers rest whilst not on stage. It’s accessed from the stairs in the main foyer of the Theatre. Go up to the third floor and immediately turn right and you cant miss it!
Stage Door
The stage door is a special side entrance that performers use. At the Palace Theatre, it’s accessed via Alcester Street and it’s bright red. What3Words App: icons.roses.fancy
Stage Make-Up
When it comes to young dancers (girls and boys alike), it can be hard to see their facial expressions on stage under the bright lights and the right makeup can help them stand out. Put some pinky/red colour on their lips, pink blush to their cheekbones, and blue or brown eye shadow and/or mascara to emphasise their eyes.
