RNSD's first trip to see the Ballet
On a chilly December morning at the end of term, 46 students and 4 teachers gathered outside the Birmingham Hippodrome for our first School Trip.
Excitement and anticipation were in the air from staff and pupils alike as we entered BRB to meet the lovely Kasia and Rebecca, our tour guides for the morning.
We explored the stage, gasped at the size of the fireplace and candlesticks, attempted to count the seats and then were amazed by the beautiful costumes.
Did you know, each costume is the original?
It's simply been mended, amended, adjusted and tailored over the years for each dancer who's worn it.
Kasia and Rebecca were wonderful and answered all the student's (and staff's!) questions knowledgeably and with an obvious love for their job.
We then met Johnny Westall-Eyre (Head of Lighting for the Hippodrome) and Tom Rodgers (BRB's First Soloist) for some Q&A.
Both were very friendly and answered the many questions and shared their stories and passions. After a quick lunch and loo break, we took our seats for the wonderful performance.
